Full Version: Incompatibility with Microsoft Keyboard

Hello Mehdi,

This is not really a bug report but rather a compatibility (?software) problem with MS Keyboard.
I recently purchased a MS Wireless Optical Desktop Keyboard and mouse (MS Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0 and MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0), but unfortunately most of the the additional function keys did not work after installation. I was about to return the product thinking it was defective when sudenly it occurred to me that it could be due to conflicts. After several tries and misses I found that Avro 3.1 seemed to be incompatible. Once Avro is closed and exited all keys start to function normally.
I downloaded and installed the latest IntelliType software and drivers from the MS website but the problem remains. Strangely, my previous Samsung PS2 keyboard which had additional function keys too did not cause any problems with Avro and it cost 1/10th of the current one! Now, I have had to enable the option so that Avro doesn't start with Windows and I have to start Avro everytime I want to use it and the function keys become disabled.
Is there any way to solve this problem?

Thanks,

Seems to be interesting!

I would be highly obliged if you kindly list here the additional key names and their functions. I'm eagerly waiting to solve this newly detected defeciency... wink.gif

Please bear with me a little while. It is the financial year ending here and I am upto my neck in work. I shall be able to find time on Saturday.
I also have to check all the other function keys and give you a complete report. I am also trying to gather a picture of the model so that it is easier to point out the keys. See you till then. ermm.gif

Thank you Sumit, there's no hurry, the bug will be fixed (I hope) in the next release, and the shedule of the next release is after August, 2006.

We have found you as a serious bug reporter among others, in the next release I've planned to add your name in the Credit list (get it in the about dialog box of Avro Keyboard), if you have no problem... biggrin.gif

Thanks Mehdi, for the offer to put my name in the credit list and I do not mind at all. On the contrary it is an honour and surely gives a boost to my ego. w00t.gif
I do try to contribute my two bits here and there but it is nothing compared to your labour and sincere efforts to provide us Bangalis with such a good product. biggrin.gif
I still haven't found the time to go through the keyboard matter but will let you know in a couple of weeks when I get back from my official tour.
Keep up the good work.

No problem bro, I'm waiting... smile.gif
