How to Type Bangla in iPhone/iPad/iPod

iOS 4 introduced the best Bangla support till date for smartphones. Though it can display Bangla text, unfortunately there is no official input method to type it. So here’s our workaround for Avro Phonetic users:

1) Go to the following URL with your iPhone Safari: http://www.VistaArc.com/iAvroPad/

2) Click on the Share button in Safari (right beside the Back/Forward buttons)

3) Click on the Add to Home Screen button, and voila, Avro Typepad will appear on your home screen with other apps!

Now whenever you need to type Bangla, launch iAvroPad, type Bangla phonetically and copy>paste from there.

HOW TO: Fix Bengali Display Problem in Firefox 4 and 5

Many users are complaining on the forum and our Facebook Page about Bengali not showing up properly after upgrading Firefox. This is a bug in Firefox and here’s how you can fix it.

  1. Go to Firefox Options > Content > Fonts & Colors > Click on Advanced
  2. Under Fonts for > Select Bengali from dropdown list
  3. Select Siyam Rupali or any other good Bengali font.

Sometimes you may need to this 2-3 times. After this, there should not be any problem.

লিনাক্সে বাংলা ইউনিকোড ফন্টগুলো একবারে ইন্সটল করার সহজ সমাধান

লিনাক্সের জন্য এর আগে ৩০টি বাংলা ইউনিকোড ফন্ট ইন্সটল করার জন্য একটা bash script বেসড ইন্সটলার তৈরি করেছিলাম। সেটা মোটামুটি কাজ করলেও তার ছিল অনেক সীমাবদ্ধতা। তাই এইবারে স্ক্রিপ্ট বেজড ইন্সটলারের পরিবর্তে ttf-banglaunicode ডেবিয়ান প্যাকেজ বানিয়ে নিলাম। এর ফলে এখন থেকে ফন্টগুলো আরো সহজে ইন্সটল করা যাবে। ডেবিয়ানের প্যাকেজ ফাইলটি ডাউনলোড করে নিয়ে শুধু তার উপর ডাবল ক্লিক করলেই স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে ৩০টি বাংলা ইউনিকোড ফন্ট ইন্সটল হয়ে যাবে। ফন্টগুলো নেয়া হয়েছে ওমিক্রনল্যাবের সাইট থেকে।

Ro-Zofola problem :: The cause and solution [Part 2]

Earlier post described why should you update your Windows Xp to Windows Vista or later to view Ra-Zofola correctly. Those who are willing to continue using Windows Xp, the solution is to update usp10.dll. Here’s how to do that. I’ve tried to find the easiest solution, if anyone find any easier one, please let us know.

After releasing Avro Keyboard 4.5.3 on 21 August 2010, we’ve received several “bug report” that R-Zo fola (র‍্য) isn’t being rendered correctly. People facing this problem are using Windows XP or earlier OS. We’ve mentioned in the change log that we’ve fixed R-Zo fola, they were wondering how could a fix can break anything? :)

After Khandata (ৎ), R-Zo fola seems to be the most discussed issue in Bangla Unicode. Here goes the disclaimer that the problem lies in your Windows and this is NOT a bug of Avro Keyboard.

HOW TO: Display Bengali Text In Opera Mini

Many users complain that they can’t see the text on Bengali web pages on their mobile phones and get boxes instead. Popular java-based mobile browser Opera Mini lets you see Bengali characters on your handset by using bitmap fonts which are rendered on the  Opera Mini server itself.
